Interview with Arjun Erigaisi, board 1 of India for the Chess Olympiad 2024

Chessbase India interviewed Arjun Erigaisi, the top board of India for the upcoming Olympiad in Budapest. “The Olympiad will be very exciting for sure. Last Olympiad China was missing and also Maxime-Vachier Lagrave will be back,” says Erigaisi. He continues, “Last Olympiad we were scattered between two teams, now we have one perfect team, so our chances for gold are even higher.”

GothamChess – Pia Cramling match in Stockholm

The famous streamer IM Levy Rozman aka GothamChess will meet the legendary GM Pia Cramling in Stockholm. The match titled The Battle of Generations will take place from October 28 to November 2. It will consist of 4 classical games, 6 rapid games, and 12 blitz games.

GothamChess , coached by Arturs Neiksans, had a wonderful performance at Spilimbergo 2024.

Opening ceremony of the Chess Olympiad 2024

The Chess Olympiad 2024, which is breaking participation records both in the Open and Women sections, will start this September in Budapest. The opening ceremony of the event will be on the 10th of September in the capital of Hungary.

The Akiba Rubinstein Memorial took place on 17-25 August in Polanica Zdroj, Poland. It was won by Vincent Keymer, after a stunning 6,0/7 start, which secured him the title. The tournament was the 60th anniversary of the festival and included multiple chess tournaments and side events. Chessdom spoke to the chief organizer, Aleksander Sokolski.

For the first time the FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships will take place North America. The 2024 edition of the World Rapid will be in Manhattan, New York, December 26-31, 2024. This is a changed compared to previous editions, as the event used to finish December 30.

David Llada summarizes the problem, “I hope the conference on finance touches on the topic of “how to improve your credit scores”, because booking a room in Manhattan during New Year’s Eve will probably require getting a loan.”
