Ian Nepomniachtchi won an important Round 11 game against Alireza Firouzja to be one step closer to winning the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022. He has a 1.5 points advantage over the second-placed Ding Liren who yesterday scored his third consecutive victory in the tournament.

The 2022 Jerry Spann Memorial – Oklahoma Open&State Chess Championship took place over the weekend June 25-26 in Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event was played in three sections: Open, Reserve (U1700) and Amateur (U1300), over 5 swiss rounds, with time control of 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds of increment, and gathered 90 players.

The FIDE World Senior 50+ and 65+ Team Chess Championships 2022 took place from 20-29 June in Acqui Terme. England won three world titles as England’s men won both the World Over 50 Championship and the World Over 65 Championship. England Women won the Women’s World Over 50 Championship, making it a triple success.

Alireza Firouzja yesterday suffered a tough loss to Hikaru Nakamura in the 10th round of the FIDE Candidates Chess 2022.
