Azerbaijan announces National Youth Chess Champions

The Azerbaijani National Youth Chess Championships 2022 took place from 16-24 June in Baku. The event was played in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, open and girls sections separately, with the participation of more than 300 players.

After 9 days of fights, the Azerbaijan National Youth Champions are: (scroll down for final rankings of all groups)

FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 – R7 preview

The FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 reaches its halfway. Ian Nepomniachtchi and Fabiano Caruana separated themselves from the rest of the field, scoring 4.5 and 4 points, respectively.

FIDE Council: No rating fees for OTB Rapid and Blitz events held in 2021-2023

FIDE Council decided to waive rating fees for Rapid and Blitz over-the-board tournaments held in 2021-2023. The Financial rules of the FIDE Handbook have been updated accordingly, says FIDE, adding that FIDE constantly works on reducing various fees.

Stockfish sues ChessBase; The Court Hearing scheduled for Monday

Leading Stockfish developers have filed suit against ChessBase to enforce their license termination claiming Chessbase has “repeatedly violated central obligations of the GPLv3 license”. The court hearing in the case Tord Romstad and Stéphane Nicolet vs. ChessBase GmbH will take place on Monday, July 4th, and Stockfish calls all interested parties to attend the hearing.
