Abhimanyu Mishra continues his to become the youngest GM in history. Just days after conquering his second GM norm, now Mishra is attacking his final one in a tournament in Hungary.

“Vezerkepzo GM May 2021” is taking place 13-21 May in Budapest. It is a round robin valid for FIDE norms, and is also rated – one of the requirements that Mishra has to complete is cross 2500 rating.

The FIDE World Chess Cup 2021 will take place in Sochi, starting July 10, 2021.

Out of 206 players taking part in FIDE World Cup 2021, a large portion will earn their spots through Continental events, allowed to be organized in hybrid or online formats. This is the first time in the history of chess that the World Chess Championship cycle where some of the participants are decided in online events.

Children’s Chess Club “OSNOVAC” and IA Igor Lukic organize IM, WGM and WIM Round Robin closed tournaments “NIS 2021”, valid for rating and FIDE ELO. The events will take place simultaneously from 11th-17th June, each to be a round robin with 10 participants and time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 15 minutes to the end of the game with 30 seconds increment for each move, starting from the move one.

The 2021 Open Chess Championship of Dominican takes place from 7th-23rd May 2021 in Distrito Nacional.

The event gathered 60 participants, competing in 11 rounds for the National Champion title! Top seeded is IM Munoz Santana Jose Lisandro, 6 times Dominican National Chess Champion (2006, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017).

FIDE Grand Swiss 2021 and FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2021 will simultaneously take place in Douglas, Isle of Man, from October 25 to November 8, 2021.

International Chess Federation FIDE has recently updated regulations for the events, clarifying the qualification criteria.

According to updates, FIDE Grand Swiss 2021 will gather 114 chess players:

The 2021 World Chess Championship aka known as the Carlsen – Nepomniachtchi 2021 match will be held 24 November – 16 December in Dubai. The battle for the most important title in the sport of chess will be between the reigning champion Magnus Carlsen and his challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi.

The fourth and final leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix will take place from May 22 to June 2, 2021, in Caleta Hotel, Gibraltar.

Twelve players will compete in a round-robin event in Gibraltar, fighting for the qualification spot for the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament 2022. Two best ranked players on the list with cumulative scores from all 4 Grand Prix events will qualify for Women’s Candidates.
