FIDE Grand Prix in Baku – Dmitry Andreikin defeats Fabiano Caruana

Fabiano Caruana’s impressive run has been put to a halt in round 7 of the FIDE Grand Prix in Baku when he was defeated by the tail-ender Dmitry Andreikin. This was Caruana’s first loss since the Chess Olympiad in Tromso.

World Junior Chess Championships 2014 – Round 3 Video

The World Junior Chess Championships 2014 (for boys & girls under 20) are being held in Pune, India, from 6th to 19th October 2014.

The Championship is organized and conducted by Maharashtra Chess Association under the auspices of AICF and FIDE.

Fabiano Caruana defeated Peter Svidler in the 6th round of FIDE Grand Prix in Baku to move into sole lead with 4,5 points. Yesterday’s co-leader Boris Gelfand was held to a draw by Sergey Karjakin.

Millionaire Chess Tournament LIVE!

The Millionaire Chess Tournament is taking place on 9-13th October 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the USA.

The preliminary list of participants consists of 525 players, including 32 GMs. They will be vying for the hefty prize fund in the amount of 1.000.000 $.

Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2015 – Press Conference

Tata Steel 2013The 77th edition of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament is set to take place from 9-25th January 2015.

After this year’s success with the individual rounds in the Rijksmuseum and at the High Tech Campus, Tata Steel Masters will once again add two locations as playing venues.

The new Komodo 8 chess engine starts its challenge for the TCEC title today

The top chess engine championship TCEC is underway with Stage 1a finished and won by Gull and Stage 1b underway with Komodo, Houdini, and Naum as 3000+ ELO engines.

The biggest attention magnet is the new Komodo 8, a version that is ready to challenge last year’s throne of Stockfish. Komodo begins its participation today after 11:00 CET with two consecutive games. First it will take on Junior 13.3 in the last game of round 1, while immediately after starts the first game of round 2 Exchess – Komodo.
