38th Ikaros 2015 International Tournament LIVE!

The 38th International Chess Tournament “Ikaros” 2015 is taking place from Saturday 11th till Sunday 19th of July at Aghios Kirykos, the capital town of Ikaria, Greece.

The event will be a 9-round Swiss open tournament, valid for FIDE rating and norms.

Last year’s winner GM Peter Prohaszka (2586) of Hungary heads the field of 107 players from 11 different countries.

Confederation of Chess for Americas General Assembly

The CCA General Assembly was held in Cali, Colombia, from July 1st-4th 2015 with the attendance of 27 Federations, either personally or by proxy.

Also FIDE Deputy President Mr. Georgios Makropoulos attended the meeting, the first time such a senior FIDE official had been present.

After the welcoming messages of the Colombian Chess Federation and the Continental President, the General Secretary, Mr. Russell Smith gave the floor to the Continental President for his report.

ParacinThe 8th International Chess Festival “Sport Summer 2015″ was held from July 3-10, in the Serbian town of Paracin.

The Master’s event was a 9-round Swiss open that gathered 115 players from 17 different countries.

MetLife Warsaw Najdorf Festival 2015 LIVE!

The 2015 MetLife Warsaw Najdorf Festival is taking place from July 10-18, in Polish capital Warsaw.

The event is organized under the auspices of the President of Warsaw Ms Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz in a 9-round Swiss format and it is open for all players with Elo rating over 2200.

Top seed is Bulgarian GM Ivan Cheparinov (2683).

OPorto Open 2015

OPorto Open 2015 is set to take place from 13-19th July at the Hotel Beta in Porto, Portugal. The tournament is included in the National Circuit of Classic Chess of the Portuguese Chess Federation.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Grupo de Xadrez do Porto, the oldest Portuguese chess club, as a celebration of its 75th anniversary.

148 players from 21 countries are registered to take participation. Among them are 6 Grandmasters and 7 International Masters. List below.

4th Amsterdam Science Park 2015 LIVE!

The 4th Amsterdam Science Park International Chess tournament is taking place from July 11-19, 2015.

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 90′ X 40 moves + 30′ + 30″.

Top seed is Dutch player GM Harmen Jonkman (2425).

European Senior Team Chess Championship 2015 – Participants

Vienna Chess Federation & Austrian Chess Federation under the auspices of the European Chess Union organize the European Senior Team Chess Championship in Hotel AIRO Wien, Vienna, Austria, from 12-20 July, 2015.

The Championship will be played in 9 rounds according to the Swiss System, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment per move starting from move one.

4th Anogia Open “Ideon Andro” LIVE!

The 4th Anogia Open “Ideon Andro” is taking place from July 9-16, 2015 at the conference Hall of Piraeus Bank, in Anogia, Crete.

The event is organized by Anogia Chess Club and Heraklio Chess Club, in co-operation with the Municipality of Anogia, Region of Crete, O.A.A. Heraklion, Hersonissos Chess Academy, Sport Club N. Alikarnassou “Nei Irodotou” and  Chess Club “Leon” Candia.

The tournament is a 9-round Swiss open with tempo of play 90′ X 40 + 30′ + 30″.
