The PokerStars Isle of Man International Chess Tournament is set to take place from 4-12th October at the Villa Marina, Isle of Man.

The event will consist of three sections: Master (9-round Swiss), Major and Minor (7-round Swiss each).

Rate of play: 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the remaining moves, with 30 seconds added per move from the start.

The Annual Women’s Tournament Satka Autumn 2014 is organized by Chess Club “Vertical” on 20-30th September 2014 in Satka, a town on the western slope of the Southern Ural Mountains in Russia.

The International Chess Festival Baku Open 2014, dedicated to the Independence Day of Republic of Azerbaijan, is taking place from 21st September to 1st October 2014 at the AF Hotel near Caspian Sea, in Baku, the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan.

75 players from 21 different countries are taking part in the event, including 30 GMs, 14 IMs, 9 FMs, 2 WGMs, 5 WIMs and 3 WFMs.

The American Continental Championships 2014 are scheduled to take place from 18-26th October at the Hotel Pipa Atlântico – Convention Center on Praia da Pipa in Brazil.

The participation is open to all players registered with FIDE federations of the American continent. The system of play in the Classical Championship is 11-round Swiss.

The 5th Annual Hartford Open will be held from September 26-28, 2014, at the Sheraton Hartford Hotel, 1 Bradley Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

The event has 4 sections: Open, Under 2010, Under 1610 and Under 1210. All sections have either 3-day (September 26-28) or 2-day (September 27-28) schedules to play in.

The tournament format is 5-round Swiss, with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10 (2-day option, rds 1-2 G/60, d10).

The 11th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open took place from 15-21st September at the Cititel Hotel Mid Valley, MidValley City, Kuala Lumpur.

130 players from 15 countries, including 14 Grandmasters and 19 International Masters, competed in the event.

The organizing committee of the FIDE World Championship Match between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand has chosen Sochi Media Center as playing venue for the event.

Sochi Media Center hosted international and Russian media around the clock during the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.

Chess South Africa is organizing the 1st Durban Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament to be held in Durban, South Africa from 20 to 29 September 2014.

The event will take place at the International Convention Centre, Durban, concurrently with the FIDE World Youth Chess Championships.
