The Executive Secretary of Armenian Chess Federation Gaguik Oganessian passed away at the age of 68. His last appearance at the chess scene was in Stavanger, Norway, just a couple of days ago.

GM Rusev wins Visma GM Tournament

The 2015 Visma Chess Festival took place from 24-28th June, in Vaxjo, Sweden.

The Greek Team Chess Championship will take place from July 3-8, 2015 in Patras, Greece.

The championship, that dates back to 1951, will be held for the 43th time this year. Last year’s winners “PS Peristeriou” will try to defend their title against the 33 strongest teams from all over the country.

The event is a 7-round Swiss tournament where each team lines 10 members, including 4 “open”, 1 female and 5 junior (boys and girls) chess players.

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 11 to 13 September 2015 in Preston, England, by the UK Chess Arbiters’ Association, in association with the English Chess Federation and the Chess Scotland and under the auspices of FI

The 18-years old Danilo Besedes emerged surprising winner of the Silver Star Blitz tournament, leaving as many as 12 Grandmasters behind.

A total of 63 players competed. Besedes concluded the event with 7,5/9 points.

The Silver Star Blitz tournament was held on 23rd June on the “Silver Star” Danube sightseeing boat, as a part of the Silver Lake Chess Festival.

From 6 to 9 June 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by the Saudi Chess Association, in cooperation with the Asian Chess Federation and under auspices of FIDE.

From 16 to 18 June 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Las Vegas, USA, by the US Chess Federation and under auspices of FIDE.

The Lecturer of the seminar was IA Carol Jarecki (IVB), FIDE Lecturer.
