Montenegro Women Chess League 2025 takes place 1-3 May in Herceg Novi. The participants are IM Irina Bulmaga, WGM Evgeniya Doluhanova, WIM Sandra Djukic, WFM Nikolina Koljevic, WIM Lena Govedarica, WFM Ivana Manova, Milanka Tomic, Milica Popadic, Jana Tadic, WGM Beloslava Krasteva, WFM Alena Skvortsova, WIM Jovana Srdanovic, WIM Aleksandra Milovic, Marija Bajic, Mateja Popovic, Katarina Djukic, Milena Mosurovic, Tara Ivanovic, Marija Mia Maras, Nastasija Roganovic, Iva Svrkota, Anja Acimic and they are part of four teams.

Montenegro Premier Chess League 2025 LIVE

Montenegro Premier Chess League 2025 takes place 5-8 May in Herceg Novi. It is a 10 teams round robin with Grandmasters Milos Perunovic, Artem Iljin, Dragan Kosic, Nebojsa Nikcevic, Slavisa Brenjo, Milan Drasko, Denis Kadric, Nikita Petrov, Luka Draskovic, Mikhail Bryakin, Alexandr Predke, Nikola Djukic, Dragisa Blagojevic.

Japan Chess Championship 2025

Japan Chess Championship 2025 is going to take place 2-6 May in Tokyo. It will feature IM Tran Thanh Tu, FM Aoshima Mirai, IM Nanjo Ryosuke, FM Otsuka Shou, IM Kojima Shinya, CM Nakahara Kan, Chen Muxi, FM Yamada Kohei, FM Jones Stephen, Okuno Rion, CM Averbukh Alex, CM Kobayashi Atsuhiko, Higashino Tetsuo, CM Matsuo Tomohiko and a total of 85 players.

The USA vs India chess match will take place Saturday October 4th 2025 at E-Sports Stadium Arlington, Texas. USA vs India consists of 5 rounds, played sequentially, one board at a time.

GM Petr Neuman passes away

The Czech Grandmaster GM Petr Neuman passed away at the age of 47. He was found dead in his apartment in Prague.

Petr Neuman (March 11, 1978 – April 28, 2025) was a Czech chess grandmaster, renowned for his active participation and success in national and international tournaments. Born in Rakovník, Czech Republic, Neuman achieved the International Master title in 2001 and the Grandmaster title in 2013.

Worldchess regarding the ban of Christopher Yoo: “Chess is a global sport with no global code of conduct”

After losing his game of round 5 from the US Chess Championship, GM Christopher Yoo destroyed his scoresheet, stormed out of the playing hall, “and struck a videographer from behind”. The Saint Louis chess club and the organizers of the US Championship did not approve of the reaction of Christopher Yoo and expelled him from the US Championship.

IM Nikolay Noritsyn and WIM Li Yunshan are Canadian Chess Champions

The Canadian Chess Championship 2025 and the Canadian Women’s Chess Championship 2025 were held simultaneously from April 17–22 in Toronto, Ontario. IM Nikolay Noritsyn and WIM Li Yunshan have been crowned the 2025 Canadian Chess Champions. This is the third title for Nikolay Noritsyn and the first national title for Li Yunshan.

American Continental Women Chess Championship 2025 LIVE

American Continental Women Chess Championship aka Campeonato Continental Femenino de Ajedrez de las Américas is taking place May 1 – May 6, 2025 in Morelos, Mexico. The winner of the championship qualifies for the FIDE Women World Cup and wins the WGM title. The second and third are awarded WIM titles.
