The 1st Yerevan International Open Tournament is taking place from 2-10th October, 2016, at the Chess Academy of Armenia in Yerevan.

FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships – Round 10

With one round to go, only one player, Semen Lomasov from Russia, is guaranteed the first place – he cannot be surpassed in the Open 14 category.

A draw tomorrow would make Haik Martirosyan the Open 16 champion. The champions of other categories will be determined tomorrow.

The struggle in the Girls championships will be particularly sharp – sudden losses of the leaders in all age groups ruined many plans.

FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships – Round 6

Six championships bring six different and thrilling plots. There are no primary and secondary events in Khanty-Mansiysk, however the most attention is naturally paid to the elder categories.

A match between the main favorites of the Open 18 championship was scheduled for today – the moment of truth, I would say. In the Girls 18 championship, three strongest players were running parallel courses… And the outcome? A standstill in both events!

Free day at FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships 2016

The first five rounds of the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships 2016 are now history, it means that there’s time to take a break and have some rest.

Whereas grown-up chess players prefer to stand in their hotel rooms and get ready for their future rounds, children are not easy to be hold still. So it was not a surprise that the proposal of the organizers to participate in the excursion around the city was taken with great enthusiasm by most of the players.

London Chess Classic 2016 – Pairings

The pairings for this year’s London Chess Classic, which is fast approaching, have been published.

Unlike last year, there was no need for a draw: In order to ensure an even distribution of colours over the whole Grand Chess Tour 2016, the pairings are the reverse of the Sinquefield Cup, meaning LCC wildcard Michael Adams gets St Louis wildcard Ding Liren’s pairings in reverse.

Tal Memorial 2016 LIVE!

The 10th Mikhail Tal Memorial will be played in the Museum of Russian Impressionism (Moscow), one of the leading private museums in Russia.

The tournament will be opened on September 25, 2016, and will become the sixth event of the Chess in Museums project.
