The World Youth Chess Championship 2016 is going to take place 21 September – 4 October in Ugra, Khanty Mansiysk. 191 girls and 221 boys representing 62 countries will participate in the world championships.

FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships starting in Khanty-Mansiysk

The participants of the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships have arrived to Khanty-Mansiysk, the capital of Ugra.

The players and their accompanying persons were greeted in the airport in a traditional Russian way – with songs, accordion playing and local Siberian treats – nuts and cranberries.

Hainan International Open 2016

Chinese Chess AssociationThe 1st Hainan International Chess Open Tournament will take place from 6th to 17th December in Danzhou, Hainan, China.

The event consists of the Open section for players rated over 1900 FIDE and Amateur section under 1900.

World Chess Olympiad 2020 will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Ugra

The last round of 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku and the final session of FIDE General Assembly took place on 13th September. The main topic of the discussion of delegates of member countries of FIDE was choosing the city that will host the Chess Olympiad 2020. Khanty-Mansiysk was bidding as the candidate city.

The Indian GM Krishnan Sasikiran (2658) has a special feeling for Stockholm, Sweden’s capital. He played in Hasselbacken Chess Open in May. Now he returns for Rilton Cup 2016/2017.

The 46th Rilton Cup will be held from 27th December 2016 to 5th January 2017 at Clarion Hotel Stockholm, Ringvägen 98, Stockholm, Sweden.

Top prize in the 9-round open event is 20,000 SEK.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Prague, Czech Republic – Results

From 23 to 26 August 2016 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Prague, Czech Republic, by the Chess Federation of Czech Republic and under the auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Alex McFarlane (SCO), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant lecturers were IA Jirina Prokopova (CZE) and IA Petr Zaruba (CZE).

The venue of the Seminar was the Top Hotel, in Prague. The lectures of the Seminar were in English language.
