The 15th International Chess Festival Mediterranean Flower 2015 is taking place from 1st to 7th March, 2015, at the Chess Club Rijeka, in the splendid city of Rijeka, situated on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia.

The tournament is organized by FM/ FT Ivan Mandekic and Chess Club “Draga” under the auspices of the Mayor of Rijeka, Vojko Obersnel, the Mayor of Primorsko-Goranska Region, Zlatko Komadina, and the President of the Croatian Chess Federation, Josip Leko.

The 2015 Susan Polgar Foundation’s National Open Championship for Girls and Boys was held from 27th February to 1st March in San Mateo, California.

In the course of the three-day chess festival, the SPFNO awarded qualifications for:
- The Prestigious Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls
- The FIDE World Youth Chess Championship 2015 in Porto Carras, Greece.
- As well as $100,000 in prizes.

FIDE Vice President Israel Gelfer arrived to Tbilisi to attend the FIDE Grand Prix and discuss with Georgian Chess Federation the preparation for the World Cup and Chess Olympiad.

Q: Mr.Gelfer, you are here in Tbilisi for the closing ceremony of the FIDE Grand Prix. What can you say about the tournament?

India and China will face off in a Scheveningen Match on four boards at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad from March 1-10.

China has had matches with Russia and the United States and it is the first time the Asian giants will face in the chess board in such an exclusive Indo-China Summit match.

The March 2015 FIDE Top-100 Players List is once again led by Magnus Carlsen, who has 2863 ELO points.

Fabiano Caruana (2802 ELO) is clear second with 61 points gap.

The French Championships in Rapid and Blitz for 2015 were held on 21-22nd February in Nancy, France.

The Championship was marked by record participation – 156 in Blitz and 220 in Rapid.

Wesley So ‘will definitely participate’ in the 2nd Vugar Gashimov Memorial, according to the unofficial source close to the player’s management, and it is still not clear which foreign player will be replaced.
