Antipov and Buksa are 2015 World Junior Champions

The Russian chess player GM Mikhail Antipov beat the representative of Italy IM Francesco Rambaldi in the final 13th round of the FIDE World Junior Under-20 Championship to secure the title World U-20 chess champion.

Antipov edged Polish player GM Jan-Krzystof Duda on a better tie-break score after the latter finished equal in his last-round game against the Dutchman GM Benjamin Bok.

Social Chess Entrepreneur Bootcamp in London

The European Chess Union and Chess in Schools and Communities, a UK registered charity, are joining forces to provide the first ever professional program for social entrepreneurs in chess.

As part of the London Chess Classic with its London Chess and Education Conference 2015 on the theme „Chess and Society“ the best applicants will come together for a professional crash course in social entrepreneurship and a best project competition.

IGB Malaysian Open 2015

The IGB International Open Chess Championship headlines the 2015 Malaysian Chess Festival, and this year there are 143 players from 19 countries already signed up!

Amongst them, 11 GMs and 25 IMs out of a total 80 titled players.

Surprisingly it is Indonesia with 31 participants having the largest delegation, Malaysian only second with 28 players with the 23 Filipinos and 21 Indians not far behind, and Australia with 13 the least large delegation.

The Swensen’s Rapid Age Group Championships has become one of the signature events of the Malaysian Chess Festival being held from 18-28 September 2015 at Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

FIDE World Cup 2015: Henriquez beats Gelfand to proceed to the next stage

The first round of the FIDE World Chess Cup has just finished and 64 players proceeded to the next stage.

The 24 pairs of players who tied their matches with the classical time control returned to the playing hall at the Fairmont Flame Towers in Baku to settle the scores in the rapid and blitz games.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Gaborone, Botswana – Results

From 24th to 28th August 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Gaborone, Botswana, by the Botswana Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The venue of the Seminar was the Oasis Hotel, Gaborone, Botswana.

The Lecturer was IA David Sedgwick (ENG), FIDE Lecturer, and the Assistant Lecturer was FA Vincent Masole (BOT).

The lectures were in the English language.

The venue of the Seminar was the Chingiss Khan Hotel, in Ulaanbaatar.

11th Zudov Memorial 2015 LIVE!

The 11th Zudov Memorial, stage of the Russian Cup 2015, is taking place from September 9-20, 2015, in Nizhny Tagil, a city of Russia, located 25 kilometers east of the virtual border between Europe and Asia.

The event is a 9-round Swiss open with first prize in the amount of 75,000 RUB.
