FIDE World Cup: Round 4 started with 4 wins

The fourth round of the 2015 FIDE World Chess Cup was held today at the Fairmont Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan, with 16 players that remained in the competition.

6th Hartford Open

The 6th Annual Hartford Open will be held from September 25-27, 2015, at the Sheraton Hartford Hotel, 1 Bradley Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

The playing format is 5-round Swiss, 40/110, SD/30, d10 (2-day option, rds 1-2 G/60, d10).

The event has 4 sections: Open, Under 2010, Under 1610 and Under 1210. Each section has either a 3-day schedule (September 25-27) or 2-day schedule (September 26-27) to participate in.

The event has a $5,000 prize fund, unconditionally guaranteed.

2015 European Youth Chess Championship kicks off in Porec

PorecThe Croatian Chess Federation and the European Chess Union organize the 2015 European Youth Chess Championship from 20th September to 1st October, in the touristic town of Porec, situated on the western coast of Istrian Peninsula, Croatia.

The International Chess Festival Baku Open 2015, dedicated to the Independence Day of Republic of Azerbaijan, will take place from September 29 to Otober 8, at the AF Hotel near Caspian Sea.

The Festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Youth & Sport Ministry and Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The total prize fund is 40,000 USD and the first place is 10,000 USD worth.

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament. The winners in each category (Boys U8, Boys U10, Boys U12, Boys U14, Boys U16, Boys U18 and Girls U8, Girls U10, Girls U12, Girls U14, Girls U16, Girls U18) will be awarded the title 2015 European champion.

Nepomniachtchi appeal rejected, arbiter to issue a warning to Nakamura

After the end of the 3rd round of the FIDE World Cup GM Ian Nepomniachtchi submitted a complaint to the Appeals Committee in regard to the Armageddon game with GM Hikaru Nakamura.

Round 3 tie-break: Andreikin defeats Kramnik in Russian derby

Mahir Mamedov: “It was easy to organize the World Cup as we had resources and infrastructure in place”

A press-conference with the Tournament Director of the FIDE World Cup 2015 and Chess Olympiad 2016 Mahir Mamedov was held in the Fairmont Hotel. Speaking to Goran Urosevic, World Cup Press Officer, M. Mamedov shared his impressions about the tournament and provided some insight about the preparation for the event.
