35th Memorial Edoardo Crespi in Milan

The 35th Memorial Edoardo Crespi is being held from 4-13th December in the large tournament hall of Chess Club in Milan, via Sant’Uguzzone 8.

The main event is Master Group which starts on 6th December and is being played over nine rounds of Swiss system.

On 4th December two minor Groups, Open A (elo 1750-2050) and Open B (U1800) have started. Both events will be played over 7 rounds Swiss.

On 6h December two more events will start – Open C for Beginners and Open Under 16.

Lysyj strengthens his lead at the Superfinal, Galliamova catches up with Goriachkina

The Russian Chess Championship Superfinal, the 67th for men and the 64th for women, is taking place from 27th November till 8th December in the city of Kazan, in a branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (the Khazine Gallery). The Superfinal is the main individual competition in the Russian chess calendar: it determines the country’s strongest male and female chess player.

Asian Seniors and Amateur Chess Championships 2014

Chess Federation of Sri LankaThe Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, on behalf of the Asian Chess Federation, is organizing the 5th Asian Seniors and Amateur Championships from 5-12th December 2014 in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka.

118 MGU Open to be held in Sofia

The 118th MGU Open 2014 is scheduled to be held on 6-7th December, 2014, at Chess Club MGU, in Sofia, capital and largest city of Bulgaria.

The event is organized in honor of Captain Petko Voyvoda (born 6th December 1844) and Nikola Vaptsarov (born 7th December 1909), in a 6-round Swiss format, open to all players rated below 2200.

The tournament is valid for FIDE and national rating, with tempo of play 60′ + 30″.

Pozarevac Open Championship

The Branicevo Chess Union is organizing the 2014 Pozarevac Open Championship from 26-28th December at Hotel Dunav in Pozarevac.

The Festival will consist of four events:
- Open A for players rated over 2200, 5-round Swiss, FIDE rated
- Open B for U2200 players, 5-round Swiss, FIDE rated
- Open C for U1600 players, 9-round Swiss
- Blitz rating tournament

Kambouzia elected again as President of Iran Chess Federation

Mohammad Jafar Kambouzia, long standing President of Iran Chess Federation and FIDE Vice President, is elected President of Iran Chess Federation for the next 4 years.

Presidents of 30 Chess Association of Iran provinces and delegates of Iranian Chess Players, Schools, Universities, Factories, Armies and Clubs formed the electoral body of 42 votes.

There were three candidates and Mr. Kambouzia with 27 out of 42 votes won the election.

Kuwait Society Of Engineers Chess Championship 2014 LIVE!

The 2014 edition of Kuwait Society of Engineers Chess Championship is taking place at Kuwait Mind Sports Association in Qadesyah Area.

The event is a 9-round Swiss FIDE tournament with tempo of play 90′ + 30″.

The prize fund will be awarded as follows: 300$ + Cup + medal/ 200$ + Cup + medal/ 100$ + Cup + medal/ 4-10th place: medals; Best female player: 50$ + Cup + medal; Best junior: 50$ + Cup + medal.
