The 24th Torneo de Navidad Liga de Ajedrez de Bogotá took place on 4-8th December at the Bogotá Centro Comercial Americas Outlet Factory in Bogotá, Colombia.

The event was organized by the Liga Ajedrez Bogotá, Club Sicoopweb and AF Orlando Ruiz Jasbon. There were four playing sections: ITT Millonario, U2000, U1800 and U10 Youth.

The main ITT Millonario section had 96 players from eight countries, including 10 Grandmasters and 13 International Masters.

The SIB – CMS 52nd National Premier Championship 2014 is taking place on 5-18th December 2014 in CMS College, Kottayam, a city in the Indian state of Kerala.

The event is a 12-player round-robin tournament with an average ELO 2487, sponsored by the South Indian Bank (SIB) and the CMS College.

The Russian Chess Championship Super Final, the 67th for men and the 64th for women, took place from 27 November till 8 December in the city of Kazan, in a branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (the Khazine Gallery).

The Super Final is the main individual competition in the Russian chess calendar: it determines the country’s strongest male and female chess player.

The Portugal Chess Academy announces the Lisbon Christmas International Chess Open to be held from 26-30th December at the Hotel Real Palácio in Lisbon, Portugal.

The tournament is sponsored and supported by DAUD Consors, Real Hotels, Portuguese Chess Federation and Chess Association of Lisbon.

The 9-round Swiss event is rated with FIDE and valid for title norms. Top prizes are EUR 1500 / 1100 / 800 / 650 / 500 etc. There are also special elo prizes and trophies for age groups.

On 6th December the Tbilisi Chess Palace hosted the Presidential Election of the Georgian Chess Federation.

56 delegates attended the elections, among whom Georgian chess legend Nona Gaprindashvili, the ECU President Zurab Azmaiparashvili and chess Olympic Champions Nana Alexandria, Nana Ioseliani and Nino Gurieli.

The delegates unanimously re-elected GM Giorgi Giorgadze as President, and later the members of the board were approved.

A six game match between the U.S.A. players GM Varuzhan Akobian (2637) and GM Julio Becerra (2546) will take part from Monday, 8th December to Wednesday, 10th December.

The event is sponsored by Falbo Knows Tennis and is being held at the Spring Hill Suites in Lawrence, Kansas.

The match will begin at 10 am CST and be played with a time control of G/90 plus 30 second increment.
