Robert Zelcic wins Zadar Open

Croatian Grandmaster Robert Zelcic has won the 2013 Zadar Open Group A after edging Ivan Saric, Andrey Sumets and Borki Predojevic on tie-break. The four players finished on 6,5/9 points each.

Zadar Open 2013 took place on 15-21st December at the Falkensteiner Hotels & Resorts Borik in Zadar, Croatia.

The Group A was reserved for the players rated above 2200 FIDE, while Group B accepted participants rated under 2300.

Dmitry Jakovenko winner of the 2013 Russian Cup

Former European Champion Dmitry Jakovenko won the 2013 Russian Cup for men after defeating the talented 18-years old Vladimir Fedoseev 1,5-0,5 in the final match.

The Russian Cup Final took place from 11th to 19th December in Khanty-Mansiysk. Sixteen players with the best results throughout 2013 competed in the knock-out format.

World Youth Chess Championships – Round 3

The UAE Chess Federation and Al Ain Chess Club, under the auspices of FIDE, organize the World Youth Chess Championships 2013 (Under 8, 10,12, 14, 16 and 18 years old – open and girls) from 17 (arrival) – 29 (departure) December 2013 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Three rounds have been played and Saturday will have the only double round of the event.

GM Rinat Jumabayev wins Pavlodar Open on tie-break

The Pavlodar Open 2013 took place from 10-19th December at the Estaya St. 83 in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan.

The tournament was devoted to the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence Day and organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, Management of tourism, physical training and sports of the Pavlodar area, and Pavlodar Chess Federation.

104 players competed in the 10-rounds Swiss event. Among them were 15 Grandmasters and 10 International Masters.

After a gap of four years, Indian Premier Chess Championship has returned to the round robin format and the 51st edition being held at Jalgoan has 14 strong players, with an average of 2492, a category 10 event.

Hilton Chess Festival Basel 2014 (Updated)

Der Verein Schachfestival Basel is organizing the Hilton Chess Festival Basel on 1-5th January 2014 at Hilton, Aeschengraben 31, in Basel, Switzerland.

The Festival will consist of four events:
- Master tournament
- Amateur tournament
- Blitz tournament will be held on 3rd January (start at 20:00h)
- Youth Rapid will be held on 5th January
