1st Individual FIDE Zone 1.10 Championship

1st Individual Championship of Zone 1.10Following an initiative started in 2013 the FIDE Events Commission is supporting establishment of new competitions and events aiming for a further development.

Swiss Chess GP – Blitz Tournament

The Swiss Chess GP will consist of eight blitz tournaments to be played throughout the year.

The first event is scheduled to start at 16:00h on 25th January at the Schachmuseum (Chess Museum), Industriestrasse 10 in Kriens.

The tournament format is 9-round Swiss with the time control 5-minutes per player.

The remaining events will take place on 1st March, 5th April, 3rd May, 5th July, 30th August, 8th November and 13th December.

All events will be counted for the annual ranking. The overall winner will receive a special prize.

Vaibhav Suri shocked in Parsvnath opener

Grandmaster and world under-18 bronze medalist Vaibhav Suri suffered a shock defeat at the hands of unheralded N Surendran in the opening round of the premier section of 12th Parsvnath Delhi International Grandmasters Chess Tournament that got underway here.

Emir Dizdarevic first in Bosnjaci Open

The 19th Open Chess Tournament “Bosnjaci” took place on 3-9th January at the chess club in Bosnjaci, Croatia.

The 9-round Swiss event attracted 105 players from BIH, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia. The total prize fund was 5000 EUR.

Grandmaster Emil Dizdarevic took a clear first place with 7,5/9 points.

Tata Steel Chess Masters 2014 LIVE!

Tata Steel 2014 is back with exciting chess and a strong lineup. This year the tournament changes format, name, and playing locations. From 2014 the event will be known as Tata Steel Masters 2014. It will include 12 players, a round will be played in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, another in the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, and the rest in Wijk Aan Zee.
