The first day of the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship kicked off today with a press conference joined by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich and World Champion Magnus Carlsen.

The 2022 Lorca Open commences today in Spain and will be taking place from 26-30 December. The event features two tournaments: Open A and Open B (for players rated U2150) with a prize fund of 8.000 EUR. The Open A will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds of increment, and the Tournament B will be played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 60 minutes + 30 seconds of increment.

The World Rapid and Blitz Championships were officially opened in Almaty on the 25^th December. In a 90-minute long ceremony, the hosts put on a spectacle which celebrated chess and promoted the culture and distinctiveness of Kazakhstan

The 2022 World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships take place in Almaty (Kazakhstan) between Sunday, the 25th of December and run through until Friday, the 30th of December.

MPL 59th National Chess Championship of India takes place from 22nd December 2022 to 3rd January 2023 with 200 participants competing over 13 rounds. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move one.

The Vugar Gashimov Memorial 2022 took place from 18-23 December in Baku. It was a 10-player super-tournament consisting of Rapid and Blitz stages and the final standings were determined according to the sum of points of Rapid and Blitz events.
