Portuguese Masters 2022 – LIVE

The Portuguese Masters is taking place from 16–22 December 2022 in Lisbon. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 10-player round-robin tournament with participation of Luis Pedro Ferreira, Rodrigo Andias Sarabando, Samuel Jesus P Goncalves, Andre Neves Fidalgo, Bruno Andre Leite Martins, Jose Miguel Margarido, Fernando Ribeiro, Jose Francisco R Veiga, Goncalo Nuno Neto Silva and Luis Sousa Reis.

The 2022 European Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships took place in Katowice, Poland, from 16-18 December. More than 1000 players participate in the event.

International Chess Festival “City of Messina – Gate of Sicily” 2023

The International Chess Festival “City of Messina – Gate of Sicily” will take place from 2-8 January 2023 in Messina, Italy. The festival features three tournaments: Open A (for players rated 1800+), Open B (for players rated 1200-1800), and Open C (for players rated U1500) with a total prize fund of 5.000euros.

Chessable Sunway Sitges 2022 – Round 7 pairings

The 2022 Chessable Sunway Sitges Chess Festival is taking place from 11-22 December in Sitges, Barcelona, and features two tournaments: Open A and Open B, with a total prize fund of 27.155eur. After six played rounds, GM Kirill Alekseenko has the sole lead with perfect score of 6/6 points.

After six played rounds at the Chessable Sunway Sitges International Chess Festival 2022, the players will have a free day tomorrow. The round 6 was opened by a Former Women’s World Chess Champion and one of the greatest female chess players of the time, GM Susan Polgar.

9° Rencontres Internationales des Echecs Francophones (RIDEF) starts in Tunisia

Yasmine Hammamet Tunisia will host the World Francophone’s major annual chess meeting from 16-25 December 2022. The 2022 Individual Francophone Championships will award the following titles for 2022: Francophone Champion, Woman Francophone Champion, Senior Francophone Champion, Veteran Francophone Champion and Blitz Francophone Champion.

European Rapid Chess Championship 2022 – Day 2 LIVE video coverage

European Rapid Chess Championship 2022 is taking place in Katowice, Poland, from 17-18 December 2022. Open and Women’s sections are merged, with separate prizes for the best ranked female players. The event is played in 11 rounds, swiss system, with the time control: 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment. More than 900 players participate in the event.

The Bangabandhu 47th Bengali Champonship is taking place from 14–28 December 2022 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 14-player round-robin tournament with Ziaur Rahman, Enamul Hossain, Tahsin Tajwar Zia, Niaz Murshed, Rahman Mohammad Fahad, Bin-Sattar Reefat, Reja Neer Manon, Choudhury Anata, Biswas Subrota,Mehdi Hasan Parag, Talukder Hrishin, Osman Md.

32nd Carlos Torre Memorial 2022 – LIVE

The 32nd Carlos Torre Memorial is taking place from 17–21 December 2022 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 9-round Swiss tournament with participation of Jose Eduardo Martinez Alcantara, Sergio E Barrientos, Ermes Espinosa Veloz, Yasser Quesada Perez, Omar Almeida Quintana, Isan Reynaldo Ortiz Suarez, Alejandro Ramirez, Lazaro Bruzon Batista, Emilio Cordova, etc.

The Opening ceremony of the European Rapid Chess Championship 2022 took place this morning in Katowice, with attendance of Dana Reizniece-Ozola – ECU Vice President, Waldemar Bojarun – Vice President of Katowice, Radoslaw Jedynak – President of the Polish Chess Federation, Andrzej Matusiak – President of the Silesian Chess Federation and Lukasz Turlej – FIDE Secretary General.
