The Women’s Candidates Pool B tournament is halfway through in Khiva, Uzbekistan. Aleksandra Goryachkina booked her seat for the semifinals after defeating Alexandra Kosteniuk with a 2.5-1.5 score, taking a two-day rest before the next game.

The fourth edition of the Tata Steel Chess India Rapid & Blitz, India’s biggest chess tournament, took place from November 29 to December 4, 2022, featuring the Women’s event for the first time this year. It is 12-player-round-robin tournament with Magdalini Mihailidou, Marina Makropoulou, Antonia Christodoulaki, Evanthia Makka, Ioulia Makka, Konstantina Androni, Panagiota Kiousi, Aikaterini Argyro Gkoutzouki, Eleanna Ratzvika Deli, Anna-Maria Drakaki and Dimitra Amiridou.

Hans Niemann filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court (Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division).

Kateryna Lagno and Tan Zhongyi will play a tiebreak match tomorrow to determine the second semi-finalist of the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament. The match ended in a tie 2-2 after four draws, although it seemed that Lagno had good chances to prevail.

Elite chess tournaments require strict arbitration and anti-cheating measures to ensure fair play and Khiva is not an exception. Chief arbiter Husan Turdialiev (from Uzbekistan) and Fair Play officer Bojana Bejatovic (Macedonia) have years of experience to draw from.

Before the round, all players are scanned at the entrance – mobile phones, watches, pens, and any unnecessary items are prohibited in the venue. Additional scans can be performed after the game if required.
