The International chess festival Atyrau Open 2022 is taking place 16-23 August in Kazakhstan. Organized by the Dinara Saduakassova Academy of chess, the Atyrau Chess Open 2022 has collected 32 titled players. Top seeded is Pavel Ponkratov and his main competitors are Grandmasters Farrukh Amonatov, Timur Gareyev, Vitaly Sivuk, Sergei Tiviakov, Arseniy Nesterov, Alexander Kharitonov, Aleksej Aleksandrov, and Denis Makhnev.

The French Individual Chess Championships 2022 will take place from 13-21 August in the city of Albi. A magnificent city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site will host the 95th edition of the French Individual Chess Championship after three years of pause caused by the pandemic of Covid19.

The European Amateur Chess Championship 2022 starts on Sunday, 14th of August in Zagreb, Croatia. The event is played in three rating categories: U2300, U2000, and U1700, taking place from 14 – 21 August in Hotel Aristos****.

Legendary Swedish grandmaster Pia Cramling debuted in the Chess Olympiad playing for the Swedish National Team 44 years ago in Buenos Aire, Argentina. Yesterday, she received her third Olympic individual gold as the best Board 1 player of the Women’s Chess Olympiad. Pia Cramling scored outstanding 9.5/11 points and had a rating performance of 2532.
