The biggest Chinese Sports channel CCTV-5 broadcasts the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 live, supporting their countryman Ding Liren on the road to World Chess Championship Match. More than a million people daily followed Liren’s games from Palacio Santona, Madrid.

The 2022 Swiss Chess Championship takes place from 4-10 July, being played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with participation of 68 players. The field is led by GM Milos Pavlovic, IM Fabian Baenziger and GM Joseph Gallagher. The time control of the event is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, plus 30 seconds per move from the first move.

IM Gunay Mammadzada wins Bydgoszcz Fundacja Orlen WGM 2022

The Bydgoszcz Fundacja Orlen WGM tournament took place June 25-July 4, 2022, in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Ten world-class female players took part in the event which was played in 9 rounds, with the time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting on move one. 

FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 – Closing Ceremony LIVE

The closing ceremony of the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 takes place at 21:00 CEST in Madrid. The Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 will be officially declared closed soon, and Ian Nepomniachtchi will lift the Winner trophy.

Post-Candidates events in Madrid

All the games of the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 have finished, but the event is not officially closed yet. The Closing Ceremony will take place today at 21:00 CET.

Dommaraju Gukesh is now the second strongest junior in the world

16-year-old Dommaraju Gukesh continues to shine after winning three consecutive titles in the Open events. After the triumph at the 1st Chessable Sunway Formentera Chess Festival 2022, 1st Menorca Chess Open 2022, and the 48th La Roda Open 2022, Gukesh had a good tournament at the Sharjah Chess Masters, adding the total of 34.8 ELO points to his rating.

Magnus Carlsen flags Anish Giri after blundering the mate trick (VIDEO)

Anish Giri drew against reigning World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen in a blitz game that was played in Madrid’s Park El Retiro. Anish didn’t do well in the opening and faced many troubles, but he managed to escape and turn the tables with a beautiful mating idea. GM Mikhail Antipov wins 50th World Open after the Armageddon Playoff

The 50th Annual World Chess Open took place from June 30th to July 4th at Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. The event is played in 8 sections, with a total prize fund of more than 100.000$ and participation of more than 1500 players.

FTX Crupto Cup 2022 – Miami

The world’s top chess stars will be flying to Florida this summer for the biggest esports chess tournament ever held on US soil. The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour will hold its second Major of the season, the FTX Crypto Cup 2022, in Miami from August 15 to 21. The FTX Crypto Cup will offer the Tour’s largest prize fund so far this year: $210K plus an additional $100K tied to the price of bitcoin provided by leading cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
