The Stepan Avagyan Memorial takes place June 20-28, 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. The format is a round-robin among 10 players and the participants are a very interesting mixture of young starts and local talents.

The 2022 FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament players come back today to the Palacio Santona chess battlefield after yesterday’s first free day at the tournament. Fabiano Caruana and Ian Nepomniachtchi had the pleasure to head into the resting day leading the crosstable on plus one.

Polish Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda used the first resting day of the Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 to take a walk in Madrid. He shared the photo on his official Twitter account from El Retiro Park which hides the best place for playing chess.

The 1st Caplin Menchik Memorial takes place from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th June 2022 at the MindSports Centre, London. It’s a 10-player all-play-all, one game per day, with WIM & WGM norm opportunities. The tournament is taking place thanks to the generous support of Caplin Systems, who also support the Hastings Congress. The tournament has also received financial support from the English Chess Federation, The Chess Trust, and the Friends of Chess.

Arjun Erigaisi is now the highest rated 18 year old player in the world! Erigaisi recently played the French team championship Top 16, where he gained +0,7 ELO . The real reason for gaining the highest rating spot in the U18 list is not anyone losing or gaining ELO, rather Hans Niemann turning 19 years old today. But have no doubt, Arjun Erigaisi has a bright future ahead.

European Corporate Chess Championship 2022 took place over the weekend 18-19 June in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The event was played with the participation of 17 teams in the venue of the luxury cruise ship Royal Spido (named James Cook), while sailing in the Rotterdam harbour.
