The Finnish Chess Federation celebrated its 100th anniversary on June 10th in Helsinki. The centennial celebration was attended by Gunnar Bjornsson – ECU Deputy President, Nigel Short – FIDE Vice President, Eetu Tiiva – President of the Finnish Chess Federation, and other distinguished guests. The Finnish Chess Federation was founded on June 10, 1922, and took part in the establishment of the International Chess Federation FIDE in Paris in 1924.

The 2022 Turkish Youth Team Chess Championship was held at Kocaeli Congress Center on 6-10 June with the contributions of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. Bursa Metropolitan Belediyespor Club became the champion in the Open category U18 and Apaydın Chess and Sports Club Association won the Open section U12. Apaydın Chess and Sports Club Association also triumphed in the Girls U18 section, while Bursa Metropolitan Belediyespor Club clinched first place in the GU12 category.

The invitational chess tournament in memory of Professor Lim Kok Ann is going to take place 13-18 June, 2022. Top seeded is GM Adhiban (IND) in a field of ten players. The other participants are IM Irine Karishma Sukandar (INA), local stars IM Tin Jingyao, IM Jagadeesh Siddharth, WGM Gong Qianyun, as well as GM Daniel Howard Fernandez (ENG), IM Wynn Zaw Htun (MYA), GM Nguyen Anh Dung (VIE), IM James Morris (AUS), and IM Oliver Dimakiling (PHI).

The FIDE Planning and Development Commission launched its inaugural Orientation Programme targeting new federations and new federation administrations on 11 June 2022 during the World School Individual Chess Championship at the Bristol Hotel in Panama.

The Liberian Chess Federation organized Olympiad Selection Open and Women’s tournaments to determine the five players who will represent Liberia at the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai. The event took place from 28 May – 5 June in Monrovia.

The 2022 Hong Kong National Chess Championships in Men’s and Women’s sections took place over the weekends from April 1st – June 6th at Smithfield Sports Centre. The best three players of each competition secured their spots in the Hong Kong National Teams for the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
