Anand wins the Rapid stage of Grand Chess Tour Poland 2022

The rapid portion of Superbet Rapid and Blitz Poland came to an end with GM Vishy Anand winning the rapid section, though his two points lead was diminished to one after the Indian legend conceded his first loss in the last round to his closest rival GM Richard Rapport.

South Sudan determines team for 44th Chess Olympiad 2022

South Sudan determined the team for the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 after the selection process which featured three tournaments.

More than 120 players took part in the first phase with the top 40 proceeding to the second stage. The second event determined 12 players who competed in the final 11 rounds round robin event for five seats in the South Sudan National Team. The 6th player will be the team’s captain.

31st Chicago Open

The 31st edition of the annual Chicago open will be held from 26-30 May in Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel.

The event features 8 tournaments being played in different rating categories: Open (for players rated 2200+ UCF), U2300, U2100, U1900, U1700, U1500, U1300 and U1000. The total prize fund of the events is 100.000$ with 10.000$ reserved for the winner of the Open event.

The Ukrainian Grandmaster Andrii Baryshpolets is running for president of FIDE in the upcoming presidential elections during the Chess Olympiad 2022. Baryshpolets announced today his intention to challenge Dvorkovich, pointing corruption practices, systematic reputational issues, misrepresentation of federations, and failures to observe democratic, liberal and corporate governance principles.
