Asian Schools Blitz Chess Championships 2015

The Asian Schools Blitz Chess Championships was held on the morning of 4 June 2015 and less than two and a half hours later we had twelve new Asian Champions!

Surprisingly the majority of participants had opted to play instead of spending the “off” day enjoying the many sights of Singapore!

Utrecht Open A (OKU) 2015 LIVE!

The 42nd Utrecht Open A Chess Championship (OKU) is taking place from 5-7th June, 2015, in Utrecht, in the Netherlands.

The event will be played at the Utrechts Stedelijk Gymnasium school close to the center of Utrecht, in a 6-round Swiss format. The tempo of play is 110′ + 10″.

84 players headed by Hungarian GM Csaba Horvath (2553) are vying for the first place of 750 €.

The 42nd Utrecht Open B Chess Championship (OKU) is taking place from 5-7th June, 2015, in Utrecht, in the Netherlands.

The event will be played at the Utrechts Stedelijk Gymnasium school close to the center of Utrecht, in a 6-round Swiss format. The tempo of play is 110′ + 10″.

66 players are vying for the first prize of € 250.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Esfahan, Iran – Results

From 13 to 17 May 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was held in Esfahan, Iran, organized by the Esfahan Chess Association, in cooperation with the Iran Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer of the Seminar was IA Takis Nikolopoulos (GRE), Chairman of the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission and FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was IA Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh (IRI), Asian Chess federation Treasurer and FIDE Lecturer.

The language of the Seminar was English, with translation in to Persian.

Alexandra Kosteniuk wins European-ACP Women’s Rapid Championship

Asian Schools Chess Championships 2015 – Round 6

The 11th Asian Schools Chess Championships has completed the sixth round and so reached the two thirds stage.

Singapore’s Liu Xiangyi and Filipino IM Paolo Bersamina are tied for first with 5/6 in Open U-17 in contrast to World Schools Champion Shania Mae Mendoza from the Philippines crushing the opposition with 6/6 so far.

Norway Chess 2015 LIVE!

The Norway Chess 2015 super tournament is taking place from 15-26th June at Flor & Fjære (introductory blitz tournament), Hotel Scandic Stavanger Forus, Utstein Kloster Rennesøy (round 4) and Vitenfabrikken, Sandnes (rest day).

GM Nikita Maiorov first in Open Tortoreto Lido

Grandmaster Nikita Maiorov emerged clear winner of the Torneo Internazionale di Scacchi Tortoreto Lido that was held from 26th May to 2nd June in Villaggio Salinello, Italy.

Maiorov collected 7,0/9 points to win the Open A in the field of 51 players and earn 1400 EUR top prize.

Italians GM Danyyil Dvirnyy and IM Alessio Valsecchi shared the second place with 6,5 points each.
