Chinese Grandmaster Zhou Weiqi has won the Premier section of the 2015 Doeberl Cup after concluding the event with 7,5/9 points. He could even afford a last round loss, having amassed a big lead earlier in the tournament.

The 2015 O2C Doeberl Cup took take place from 2-6th April at the University House, 1 Balmain Cres, in Canberra, Australia.

Big upsets rocked the opening day of the 17th Dubai Open Chess Championship – Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cup, which was inaugurated by His Excellency Ibrahim Abdul Malik, Secretary-General of the UAE Public Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Chairman of the Sharjah Chess and Culture Club, and Ibrahim Al Bannai, President of the Arab Chess Federation.

Ian Nepomniachtchi dominates the Aeroflot Open

Ian Nepomniachtchi shared the first place in the Aeroflot Open A with Daniil Dubov and won the event due to better tie-break score. Both players collected 7 points.

In addition to winning the prize money, Nepomniachtchi qualified for the traditional tournament in Dortmund.
