O2C Doeberl Cup 2015

dbl2015The 2015 O2C Doeberl Cup is set to take place from 2-6th April at the University House, 1 Balmain Cres, in Canberra, Australia.

The Doeberl Cup is the longest running weekend chess event in Australia, taking place every year since 1963.

Adams to replace Radjabov in Shamkir Chess Tournament

Grandmaster Teimour Radjabov was forced to withdraw from the 2nd Vugar Gashimov Memorial for health reasons, Extratime.az reports quoting the tournament press service.

The 2015 edition of O2C Doeberl Cup is taking place from 2-6th April, 2015, at the University House in Canberra, the capital of Australia.

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 90′/ 40 + 30′ + 30″, open to all players with FIDE titles or untitled players with minimum 1900 Elo rating.

GM Loek Van Wely (NED) 2663 heads the field of 70 payers from 9 different countries.

IM Anwesh wins March “Lviv Tradition” (IM Group)

The March “Lviv Tradition” (IM Group) was held from 24-29th March 2015, at the Hotel Nton, in the splendid city of Lviv, situated in western Ukraine.

The event was a 10-player tournament with tempo of play 90′ + 30″.

Indian IM Upadhyaya Anwesh emerged a clear winner with 6,5/9 points, leaving the nearest followers half a point behind.

Pogonina and M.Muzychuk set for final match of 2015 FIDE World Chess Championship

The tie-breaks of the FIDE Women’s World Chess Championship Semifinals were played in SCC Galactica (Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana) on March 31.

The matches Pia Cramling (Sweden) – Natalia Pogonina (Russia) and Harika Dronavalli (India) – Mariya Muzychuk (Ukraine) continued with quicker time controls following 1-1 draws after the first two classical games.

At earlier stages Pogonina and Mariya Muzychuk were encouraging and supporting each other, and on April 2nd they will face each other for the highest women prize in chess.
