Women’s World Chess Championship opens today in Krasnaya Polyana

FIDE Women's World Chess Championship 2015Sochi, 16 March 2014. – The FIDE Women’s World Championship starts today in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi.

Sixty-four chess players from 28 countries are taking part in the knockout context, which lasts until 7 April.

Jersey Chess Open 2015

Jersey Chess Open 2015 is taking place March 15 – March 20 in Hotel Ambassadeur, St Clement Bay.

Top participants are GM Michal Krasekow, GM Eduardas Rozentaliz, GM Jahongir Vakhidov, GM Tamas Fodor, GM Mark Hebden, IM Jovanka Houska, etc. Chief arbiter is IA Adam Raoof.

Games will be live daily on Chessdom.com with computer analysis by the top TCEC engines Komodo, Houdini, and Stockfish.

Vladimir Putin welcomes the participants of 2015 Women’s World Chess Championship

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to participants in the opening ceremony of the 2015 Women’s World Chess Championship.

The message reads, in part:

“Our country is justifiably proud of its chess traditions and has great experience in organising prestigious competitions of this kind. We will of course do everything possible to make sure that this championship is of the very highest level.

The 9th Tashkent Open – Memorial of Georgy Agzamov is held from 10th to 20th March, 2015, in hotel “Shodlik Palace”, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The tournament is a 9-round Swiss with the time control 90 min + 30 sec increment from move one. The total prize fund is 20,000 US dollars.

The organization of the competition is carried out by the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan.
