Yessentuki Open

The Yessentuki Open is scheduled to take place from 20-30th March, 2015, at the hotel Solnechnaya in Yessentuki, Stavropol Krai, Russia.

The tournament format will be 9-round Swiss with the time control 90′+30”.

The tournament will consist of four sections:
- Group A, FIDE rated and open to all players
- Group B, open for youth players U11 and U13
- Group C, for amateurs and unrated players
- Group D, blitz tournament (23rd March)

Reykjavik Open – Round 5 Video

The 2015 edition of the traditional chess tournament Reykjavik Open is taking place from 10-18th March at the Harpa Conference Hall.

A total of 274 players from 37 countries, including 42 Grandmasters and 30 International Masters, are taking part in the event.

FIDE Zone 3.4 Individual Championships 2015

The Tajikistan Chess Federation has the honor to invite all National Chess Federations of Zone 3.4 affiliated with FIDE to participate in the Zone 3.4 Championships which will be held from 3rd-12th June, 2015, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Entitled to participate are players from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Top two finishers in the Men’s Zonal will qualify for the World Chess Cup 2015.

Aleksandr Rakhmanov wins Northwestern Federal District Chess Championship

The Chess Championship of Russian Northwestern Federal District (Severo-Zapadny Federalny Okrug) was held from 2-10th March at the hotel “Saint Petersburg”.

Grandmaster Aleksandr Rakhmanov (Vologda region) emerged clear winner of the men’s championship with 7,5/9 points.

Kabardino-Balkaria Rapid Chess Championship

The 5th Rapid Chess Championship of Kabardino-Balkaria was held on 8-9th March in Nalchik.

46 players aged 7 to 67 competed in the 9-round Swiss tournament with the time control 10 min + 5 sec.

Chaman Gedgafov (Baksan district) took a clear first place with 8,0/9 points. Second was David Temirkanov with 7,5 points, while third was Mazhmudin Karmov (both Nalchik) with 7,0 points.

2nd International Grandmasters Chess Tournament in Kolkata, India

Kolkata OpenDibyendu Barua Chess Academy and Allsport Management are organizing the 2nd International Grandmasters Chess Tournament from 15-24th March at the Indian Council For Cultural Relations, 9A Ho Chi Minh Sarani, Kolkata-71, India.

19th Mid-America Open

The 19th Annual Mid-America Open will be held from March 13-15, 2015, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel St. Louis-Clayton, 7750 Carondelet Ave., St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

The event has 7 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1000. All sections have either 3-day (March 13-15) or 2-day (March 14-15) schedules to play in.

The tournament format is 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.
