Seven tie for first place in Hastings Masters

The 89th Hastings International Chess Congress took place from 28th December 2013 to 5th January 2014 at Horntye Park Sports Complex, Bohemia Road, Hastings, United Kingdom.

The main event was the Masters Tournament with 94 participants from 24 federations. The event was completed over nine rounds of Swiss system with accelerated pairings.

Radoslaw Wojtaszek dominates in Hilton Basel Chess Festival

Polish Grandmaster Radoslaw Wojtaszek continued his fantastic run in the Switzerland chess tour by convincingly winning the Hilton Basel Chess Festival with 6,5/7 points.

Last week Wojtaszek won another very strong tournament – the Zurich Christmas Open.

Eva Moser wins Augsburg Tournament

Top Austrian female player IM Eva Moser won the 4th Senator Max Gutmann Memorial that was held from 27th December 2013 to 4th January 2014 in Augsburg, Germany.

Moser also claimed a Grandmaster norm.

The tournament was organized by the Schachklub 1908 Goeggingen as a 10-player round robin with the average elo 2408.

Polish Grandmaster Radoslaw Wojtaszek scored an important victory against Robin Van Kampen in the penultimate round of the Hilton Basel Chess Festival to emerge sole leader with 5,5/6 points.

Three players sharing lead in Winter Sea Deluxe Open

The 2nd Winter Sea Deluxe Open is taking place on 2-6th January at the Hotel Michelacci in Gabicce Mare, Italy, next to the Adriatic Sea.

The tournament is organized by the Fano Chess Club and Dario Pedini.

A total of 126 players are competing in three sections: Open A for those rated above 1900, Open B for the U2000 participants, Open C for U1600 and Juniors U16 (born after 1.1.1997).

Gurgaon International Chess Tournament – Round 5

Three players including top seed Ukrainian Grandmaster Martyn Kravtsiv, who beat Tillayev Ulugbek of Uzbekistan share the lead with perfect score after fifth round matches of the ongoing 2nd Gurgaon International Grandmasters Chess Tournament here at Suncity School on Saturday.

GM Vitaly Kunin convincing in Nantes Open

The 12th International Nantes Open was held on 27-30th December 2013 at the Salle Municipale Egalite in Nantes, France.

87 players competed in the 7-round Swiss event with the classical time control.

German Grandmaster Vitaly Kunin convincingly won the tournament with 6,5/7 points, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.
