Except for Grandmaster Hans Niemann, who remains abroad for other tournament opportunities, the USA players and the USA team captain returned to their homes for Thanksgiving, a traditional holiday in the USA. On the fourth Thursday of November, celebrants sing the folk song Simple Gifts and the hymn We Gather Together. After a tense semifinal Round 1, which saw two tied matches, in Round 2, Thanksgiving lyrics resonated with the teams-winners China and Uzbekistan.

The fourth edition of the Tata Steel Chess India Rapid & Blitz, India’s biggest chess tournament, will be held from November 29 till December 4, 2022. The Tata Steel Chess India 2022 will this year have the women’s tournament with the same format – rapid and blitz.

The Rapid event will be first on the schedule, taking place from 29 November – 1 December in 9 rounds, round-robin system, with time control of 15 minutes for the entire game with an increment of 10 seconds from Move 1.

The final stage of the National Chess Championship of Senegal 2022 took place from 11-13 & 19-20 November in Dakar. The event was played in 9 round-robin rounds, with 10 players who qualified for the finals through the preliminary stages.

The International Open Chess Championship of Central Serbia took place from 16-23 November in Pirot, Serbia. The event attracted 74 players from 15 countries, and was played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes per player each 40 moves and 15 minutes until the end of the game, with an additional 30 seconds for each move, counting from the first one. The total prize fund of the event was 5.250 euros.

American live streamer, YouTuber, esports commentator and competition Ludwig Anders Ahgren, known simply as Ludwig, announced the Mogul Chessboxing Championship this September. It will be a hybrid event where participants play alternating rounds of chess and boxing until one side wins either by checkmate or knockout. The event will take place on 11th December 2022.

The Italian Chess Championship Finals 2022 took place from 12-23 November in Cagliari (Sicily). The Open event was played as a 12-player round-robin tournament, and Women’s Championship was played in 7 round-robin rounds with 8 participants.

The FIDE World Team Championship 2022 takes place from 19 to 26 November in Jerusalem, Israel. It is a twelve-team championship with China, France, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain and Ukraine competing in Pool A, and Azerbaijan, India, Israel, Poland, USA and Uzbekistan competing in Pool B. 

The 2022 NC Open will be held over Thanksgiving Weekend from 25-27 November 2022 in Charlotte, NC, USA. The NCO features a $11,000 guaranteed prize fund in 8 US Chess rated sections: Championship (1900+), U1900, U1700, U1500, U1300 and U1100. The event runs alongside the 2022 US Masters, a national event featuring the top players in the Americas.
