Magnus Carlsen racked up his seventh straight rapid game win to snatch the sole lead in the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Finals in San Francisco. The World Chess Champion put on another sparking display in Round 4 of 7 as he thrashed Dutch No.1 Anish Giri 3-0 to march on towards victory in the $1.6 million Tour’s end-of-season hybrid event.

There were no major surprises in the Superfinal of the Top Chess Engine Championship, as Stockfish came out the comfortable winner – the final +17 score even surpassed most viewers’ expectations. 

The 23rd European Women’s Chess Championship 2022 will take place from 17-30 March 2023 in Petrovac, Montenegro. The event is open for all women players from National Chess Federations members of the European Chess Union (ECU) without rating or title limitations and according to the decisions of the ECU Board and General Assembly.

The 64th World Congress of Chess Composition (WCSC) is in full swing in Fujairah, UAE. The first day of the World Solving Chess Championship saw FM Bilguun Sumia (pictured below) from Mongolia grab the lead. The member of the Mongolian chess national team he pulled a half-point ahead of the World Champion in solving Danila Pavlov and Nikos Sidiropoulos.

Italian Championship U20 is a 8-player round-robin tournament, held from November 17th to 23rd in Cagliari, Italy with Joshuaede Cappelletto, Neven Hercegova, Gabriele Lumachi, Nicolò Orfini, Andrea Rindone, Ieysaa Bin-Suhayl,Francesco Bettalli and Luca Ballotti.

Nakhchivan Chess Center IM is taking place from 17–22 November 2022 in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It is a 10-round Scheveningen tournament with Barad Yeganegi, Tunahan Makaraci, Parva Behzad Nazif, Toghrul Hasanzade, Urfan Sevdimaliyev, Arvin Danesharaste, Sadig Mammadov, Parviz Gasimov, Arsalan Zarinfam and Morteza Darban.

The final event of the 1.6$ Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 will be held from 14-20 November in San Francisco. Eight elite chess stars will take part in the third and final major in a unique online and in-person hybrid chess event. Four players will compete from SHACK15 in San Francisco, while four will play remotely.

Italian Women Championship is taking place from 17–23 November 2022 in Cagliari, Italy. It is a 8-player round-robin tournament with Olga Zimina, Sara Gabbani, Valeria Martinelli, Marina Brunell, Elisa Cassi, Marianna Raccanello, Elena Sedina and Melissa Maione.
