The first event of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2022/2023 takes place from 17-30 September 2022 in Astana, Kazakhstan, despite the event opened yesterday in Nur-Sultan. The city was renamed yesterday by decree of President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Nur-Sultan 2022 becomes FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Astana 2022!

The international chess tournament “Shusha Chess 2022”, dedicated to the 190^th anniversary of prominent poet and philanthropist Khurshidbanu Natavan, will be held in Shusha, Azerbaijan from 21-25 September. The event is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, and features the total prize fund of 88.000$.

The African Individual Chess Championships 2022 will take place from 18-27 September in Lagos, Nigeria. The event will be played in Open and Women’s sections separately, with 110 participants from 27 African countries. Both tournaments will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the end of the game, with the increment of 30 seconds per each move, starting from the move one.
