Carlsen and Firouzja top FTX Crypto Cup line-up

World Champion Magnus Carlsen will be joined by Alireza Firouzja, Levon Aronian, Anish Giri, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Liem Le, Hans Niemann and Praggnanandhaa for the FTX Crypto Cup, taking place in Miami, Florida from August 15-21. The 2nd Major on the 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour features a $210,000 prize fund plus a $100,000 bitcoin bonus.

Chess Olympiad 2022 – Round 6 report

Three-time Olympic champions Armenia scored a huge win this afternoon in the 4 Points Sheraton Convention Centre, defeating India B by 2.5-1.5 in a very exciting top-board match of the Open section. Despite losing on board one – Sargissian was steamrolled by Gukesh – the Armenians were stronger on the lower boards, and GMs Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and Robert Hovhannisyan (pictured below) won their games. 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 – Round 7 pairings

Six rounds of the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 are in the books and Armenia emerged as the sole leader of the Open section scoring perfect 12 match points! Armenia today took a narrow 2.5-1.5 victory against India2. India’s women’s team emerged as the sole leader of the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022 with the maximum score of 12 match points.

Six rounds of the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 are in the books and Armenia emerged as the sole leader of the Open section scoring perfect 12 match points! Armenia today took a narrow 2.5-1.5 victory against India2. Gukesh D managed to keep the 100% winning strike with 6/6 points, but it wasn’t enough as GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and GM Robert Hovhannisyan won their games on 3rd and 4th board (respectively) and brought the important victory to the team. Tomorrow is the free day and the games continue Friday, 5th of August.

Results – Chess Olympiad 2022 round 6 (women’s section)

With a convincing 3-1 victory over Georgia, India’s women’s team emerged as the sole leader of the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022 with the maximum score of 12 match points. GM Humpy Koneru was victorious against GM Nana Dzagnidze on the first board, while IM Vaishali defeated IM Lela Javakhishvili. The games on the board two and four finished in a draw.

WGM Dina Belenkaya: “First days at the Olympiad were difficult”

WGM Dina Belenkaya plays the second board for Israel Women’s team in the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai. Dina won her game playing against WGM Hanna Marie Klek who made a crucial mistake in the 25th move and Belenkaya didn’t let go.

Chess boards all around the Chennai Airport #TweetOftheDay

The hosting city of the first ever Chess Olympiad in India is decked up with chess colours. Chennai’s iconic bridge looks like an enormously big chess board, streets are decorated with chess murals, and the chess board paintings appeared on the Chennai Airport as well. The ceremonial first move of the 2022 Chess Olympiad Round 6

The sixth round of the Chess Olympiad 2022 has started in Chennai with the ceremonial first move made by Mr. Pradeep Sekar – Director of Citi Bank, and former member of the Indian National Team IM K. Murugan representing NLC. With only two teams tying for the top of Open section with the maximum score, and three teams sharing the top of Women’s section, the sixth round will determine who will go on tomorrow’s resting day leading the respective category.
