44th Chess Olympiad 2022 – Round 4 pairings

Things are heating up at the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai, as only 20 teams emerged in the Open section with a maximum of 6 match points, and 19 teams lead the Women’s section with the same score. The fourth round is scheduled for Monday, 1st of August, starting from 15:00 (GMT+5:30). Team pairings of both sections can be found below.

Several upsets marked the third round of the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022. Mongolia defeated USA, Estonia was victorious against Armenia, Sweden won against higher-rated Spain… Three Indian teams kept the race for the top scoring perfect 6 match points, with nine-month pregnant Harika Dronavalli making her debut in the Chennai Chess Olympiad today playing the first board for the India 1 women’s team. With World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen playing the first board, the Norwegian team was one of the favorites to win the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022. Nonetheless, Italy today made a major upset defeating Norway with a convincing 3-1 score.

Journalists unhappy after changes in the Media protocols at the 2022 Chess Olympiad

The 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 is seeing a chess fever spreading through the city of Chennai. The event attracted a number of journalists who daily report from the tournament and the interest for the chess games is repeatedly seen upon the start of the first round.
