Sion Radamantys Galaviz Medina earns GM norm at the Chess Olympiad 2024

International Master Sion Radamantys Galaviz Medina from Mexico has earned a GM norm at the Chess Olympiad 2024. After 9 rounds he has 7 points, which is enough for a Grandmaster norm.

The other player with GM norm after 9 rounds is Thanh Tu Tran from Japan, who also earned the FIDE Master title

Several players have secured IM norm – Sergio Miguel (Angola), Hogni Egilstoft Nielsen (Faroe Islands), and Eldiyar Orozbaev (Kyrgyzstan)

Chess Olympiad 2022 was a blast in many aspects and chess players hold dear memories of the event. India, as a host nation, was especially proud for winning the Gaprindashvili Cup. FIDE Masters titles at the Chess Olympiad 2024 (round 9)

Six players have earned the FIDE Master title after nine rounds of the Chess Olympiad 2024. These are Jamal Adam (Chad), Alexandros Isaakidis (Cyprus), Amin Kabilov (Tajikistan), John Ranel Morazo (Palau), Gilbert Renniel (Grenada), and Thanh Tu Tran (Japan). Congratulations!

Faustino Oro becomes the youngest captain at the Chess Olympiad

Faustino Oro is an Argentinian chess prodigy. He has been dubbed the “Messi of chess”. In 2023, when he was nine, he received a rating of 2300 , becoming the youngest chess player to attain the FM title. Faustino Oro earned his IM title which he earned in June 2024 at the age of 10 years, 8 months, and 16 days, breaking the record of Abhimanyu Mishra. (Mishra is still the youngest GM)

Chess Federation Russia reacts to Magnus Carlsen’s speech

The FIDE 100 awards ceremony took place at the Chess Olympiad 2024. Magnus Carlsen was selected G.O.A.T in the male category and blew up the hall with his speech.
