Women Chess Conference Prague 2022 starts tomorrow

The Women Chess Conference Prague 2022 starts tomorrow in Prague’s Hotel Don Giovanni, during the European Women’s Chess Championship 2022. The Conference will be held from 26-27 August and it’s open to all ECU federations (representatives, players, officials, etc) wishing to support and promote women and girls in chess on a national and international level.

GM Vincent Keymer wins German Chess Masters 2022

German Chess Summer in Magdeburg took place from 12-24 August, featuring German Individual Chess Championship, German Women’s Individual Chess Championship, German Senior Chess Championships 50+ and 65+, National Blitz Chess Championship, and the most prestigious German Masters event – a ten player round-robin tournament with the best German players in the strong line-up.

Magnus Carlsen wins FTX Crypto Cup 2022

Magnus Carlsen is the FTX Crypto Cup champion for the second year in a row after holding off a fierce challenge from Indian teen Praggnanandhaa. Norway’s World Champion overcame the talented 17-year-old with a game to spare in their final round shootout for the title.

European Amateur Chess Champions 2022 crowned in Zagreb

The European Amateur Chess Championship 2022 took place from 14th-21st August 2022 in Zagreb, Croatia. The event was played in three rating categories: U2300, U2000 and U1700, 9 rounds, swiss system. More than 170 players from more than 20 European federations competed in the Championship and the best ranked were crowned the 2022 European Amateur Chess Champions.

GM Felix Blohberger and WFM Annika Froewis win Austrian Chess Championship 2022

Felix Blohberger and Annika Froewis emerged as the winners of the Austrian Chess Championship 2022. The event was played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with classical time control, and took place from August 12-19 in the Vienna Chess House. Both men and women competed in one event but were ranked separately, with the highest-scoring female player claiming the title of Austrian Women’s Champion.
