The 4th edition of the International Chess Open San Cristobal de La Laguna 2022 took place from 27 August to 3 September 2022 in San Cristobal de La Laguna, a city in the northern part of the island of Tenerife on the Canary Islands, Spain.

World No. 13 GM Richard Rapport has officially transferred to Romanian Chess Federation today. The transfer started in late May and concluded today with the Hungarian Chess Federation losing one of its greatest chess geniuses. Together with Richard, his wife WGM Jovana Rapport completed the transfer from Serbian to Romanian Chess Federation earlier in August.

The final leg of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour – Sinquefield Cup reaches the third round today. The R3 features a clash between the two USA elite grandmasters Wesley So and Fabiano Caruana. Both players drew the first two rounds, scoring 1/2 points to tie for the third place on the current rankings.

The third round of the 2022 Sinquefield Cup is scheduled for today and starts at 13:00 CDT. One of the five interesting matches will be seen between World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen and 19-year-old USA grandmaster Hans Niemann. Magnus Carlsen maintained the leadership of the 2022 Sinquefield Cup as he drew the 2nd round game against Levon Aronian. The 22nd edition of the Dubai Chess Open is currently ongoing at the Dubai Chess & Culture Club and eight rounds have been already played. More than 180 players from 35 countries fight for the total prize fund of 50.000$, and with only one round to go, Indian grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged as the sole leader of the event.

19-year-old USA grandmaster Hans Niemann yesterday scored his first ever victory against a player who is rated 2750+. He defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the 2nd round of the Sinquefield Cup 2022, and after a wild game, showed a perfect technique in the Queens endgame in the end.
