Maxime Vachier-Lagrave currently plays the 2022 Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz, the fourth leg of the Grand Chess Tour 2022 series of tournaments. Vachier-Lagrave and Firouzja won the rapid portion of the event scoring 11 points, each. In the interview after the Day 3 games, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave commented on a thrilling game against Fabiano Caruana.

Main information and Decisions

The 23rd Sants Chess Open took place from 19-28 August in Barcelona, Spain. It was a 10-round Swiss tournament, with time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The 3rd stage of the Romanian Grand Prix took place from 20-28 August in Miercurea Ciuc. Simultaneously with the Grand Prix event (open to players rated 2200+), the 25th jubilee classic chess tournament Caissa (for players rated U2200), and the youth 9th Balogh Janos Memorial (for children U12, U10, U8) were held in the same venue of Sapientia University.

The Chess Punk Award Winners for 2022 were announced yesterday. Neal Bruce, the co-founder of the #ChessPunks congratulated the Winners of the awards and thanked the judges who chose the best among the nominated.

The FIDE Congress 2022 took place in Chennai, India between 31 July 2022 and 09 August 2022 as part of the Chess Olympiad 2022. Part of the FIDE Congress was the FIDE General Assembly, with the FIDE elections on the Agenda.
