The Kaliningrad Museum hosts the grand opening of the Russian Chess Championship Higher League

On June 21, the city of Kaliningrad was the venue for a grand opening of a nationwide competition: the 68th Russian Men’s Chess Championship and the 65th Women’s Chess Championship. For the first time, the competition is being held as part of the international program Chess in Museums implemented by the Russian Chess Federation together with Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation.

Russian Men’s Higher League 2015 LIVE!

The  Russian Men’s Higher League is taking place from June 21 to July 2, in Hotel Baltika****, in Kaliningrad, the Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea.

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 90′ X 40 mves + 30′ + 30″.

The first five players will qualify for the 68th Russia Men’s Superfinal. Top seed is GM Vladimir Malakhov (2699).
